A TYPICAL DAY
(what do students actually do?)
Every day is full. Every day is intentional.
From the welcome party on Day 1 — where students, host families, and educators come together for the best possible icebreaker — to the final farewell, every moment is designed with your teen in mind.
Monday through Friday, students attend morning classes in Spanish language, history, geography, art, and Mediterranean culture, led by native, certified educators. No textbook tourism here — lessons are hands-on, engaging, and grounded in the real world right outside the classroom door.
At midday, they head home to their host family for lunch — real Spanish cooking, real conversation, real life. It's one of the highlights of the program and one of the things parents tell us their kids talk about most when they get home.
Afternoons bring group activities, local workshops, and cultural excursions that complement the classroom experience in ways a lesson plan never could — think local music, ceramics, local markets, cooking with host families, and more.
Weekends are the heart of the program. One day, the whole group (host families are always welcome to join) heads out together to a day trip: Sitges, Girona, Montserrat... — the kinds of places that make you fall in love with this corner of the world. The other weekend day belongs to family time: host families love showing their students their favorite spots, introducing them to cousins, neighbors, traditions.

Our students stay with carefully selected local host families — real families who genuinely want to share their culture, their routines, and their lives with a teenager from across the world.
These are young, active families with children of their own, living in some of the most welcoming residential communities in Catalonia. They're doing this because they're curious about the world and want to offer an experience they know will matter.
Every host family is personally vetted, trained, and supported by our team throughout the program. Students are never placed and forgotten — we see their families every single day.

The People Behind Vivid Spanish
Vivid Spanish was built by educators, not travel agents. And that difference shows in everything we do.
Paula | Co-founder & Academic Director
Paula is the heart of Vivid Spanish — and the reason the program is designed the way it is. With a background in education and a deep belief that language learning only sticks when it's lived, not memorized, she has built an immersive curriculum that meets teenagers where they are and takes them somewhere new.
She personally oversees the academic program, the educator team, the host family selection process, and the day-to-day student experience. She knows every student by name before they arrive — their interests, their worries, what excites them — because for her, this is personal.
Andrés | Co-founder & Continuous Improvement
Andrés brings 15+ years of experience in organizational leadership, international environments, and program design across Europe and Asia. His role is to make sure the program runs with the kind of structure and precision that gives families peace of mind — clear communication, airtight logistics, and a team that knows what to do in any situation.
He's also a dad. And that changes how you think about everything.
Our Educator Team
Every member of our teaching and support team is native, certified, and experienced working with teenagers.
